Balancing the Realities of the World with my Own Happiness
Optimism as an act of self-care.
- pessimism is draining
- awareness is empowering
- we need creativity, resilience and happiness
As purpose-driven founders we can sustain impact through our well-being and staying connected to our vision.
The world is full of problems.
We each only have a finite amount of time and energy.
- find your work to do
- commit to making impact
- commit to yourself
A good friend, Kees Klomp (the Buddhist Businessman), once said at Summercamp “purpose is pain”.
I didn’t quite understand it at first.
Why would I ever do anything that would cause me pain?
However, when I realise that my past pain is your present pain then my business can be my bodhisattva vow.
To alleviate a suffering I know well (thanks Jerry Colonna too for the inspiration).
And to focus on that.
And trust that it will have ripple effects.
- I know what it’s like to do work that drains me
- I know what it’s like to be overwhelmed by others needs
- I know what it’s like to forget my own needs
This is a journey of self-awareness as well as being open and aware to the world.
As Jerry says, “my story is your story”.
This is the path to connection, peace and impact.
This is how I can transform work into something meaningful.
I used to run an agency that built software for founders.
I now run a coaching business that rebuilds founders into changemakers.
Changemakers that can solve problems in the world whilst keeping happiness at their core.
This gives me meaning.
This gives me purpose.
This keeps me optimistic.
This keeps me going.
How do you stay optimism?
