Searching for Structure in the Soup
And discovering the ingredients for a meaningful life.
- it’s messy
- it’s non-linear
- it takes time
When you get to a stage in life where things need to change knowing what to change is a challenge.
Everything is mixed in.
- work responsibilities
- family responsibilities
- responsibility to yourself
It’s a system full of hidden feedback loops.
Change one area and it affects another.
It looks like a soup and it’s hard to know where to start.
What if the soup doesn’t taste great anymore and you don’t know why.
Too much salt, not enough veg, the wrong stock…?
Finding the essential ingredients is key.
Then you can decide what isn’t needed and what’s missing.
Like making a great meal, working out what’s meaningful is about using the senses not just a recipe book.
Try something out, see how it feels, then make a change if it’s not quite right.
Iterative, experiential and emergent.
