The Art of Seeing Others
As a coach, consultant, freelancer or founder the art of seeing others is key to leading a less effortful life.
The art of seeing others saves you:
- time
- money
- and heartache.
It helps you:
- avoid misunderstandings
- avoid miscommunications
- foster creativity
When someone feels truly seen they are able to say what’s really on their mind.
They share thoughts and ideas that can spark an innovation or head off a disaster.
However, these thoughts and ideas remain unspoken and hidden if that person doesn’t feel safe or heard.
The art of seeing others is a fundamental tool for living a more connected and effortless life.
The art of seeing others is an art.
- there is no 6 step process
- it’s about the way you do it and not the destination
- you need to be present, open, honest and vulnerable
To truly see others you need to truly see yourself.
Everyone, including you, has their own unique perspective that can never be fully experienced by anyone else.
We can never assume that we know someone fully or truly see them.
We must approach seeing others with curiosity, compassion, humility and patience.
We must ask questions.
We must listen more than we speak.
And we must learn to reflect what’s said.
No filtering.
No translating.
- it’s a skill
- it’s a practise
- it’s an art
And it’s the path to a more connected relationships, companies and societies.
How often do you practise this art?
