The Home of Connection
What is your Limbic Brain:
- it takes information from your outside world
- it takes information from your inside world
- it connects the two
The limbic brain is what separates mammals from reptiles.
It’s the part of the brain that encourages us to look after our own. Our family. Our community.
Without this part of the brain we wouldn’t be able to collaborate.
Or go to war.
When they say on social media that we compare others outsides to our insides, it’s the limbic brain that has a big part in this.
- it’s the seat of emotion
- it’s the source of dreams
- it’s the drive for community
Evolutionarily the limbic brain exists in all animals that look after their young.
By extension these animals then try to look after each other.
We end up fighting others when we think they’re threatening our own.
Care and war.
The limbic brain helps us interpret signals from other mammals so that we can anticipate how to respond.
(As with all envolutionary systems it isn’t perfect.)
When we see a tear, a scowl, a grimace or a smile our limbic brain assumes what’s going on.
It either prepares us for battle or for hugs
Without the limbic brain we’d all be lizards.
Reactive, cold and unfeeling.
A lot like what some businesses.
If you’re a healing business (and God knows there’s a lot of healing needed to be done) then thank your limbic brain for knowing what to do.
Empathy, compassion, care and self-sacrifice are courtesy of your limbic brain.
As well as hate, mistrust, bias and greed.
Learning more about the limbic brain will help you understand what drives you.
You’ll then be a more intentional entrepreneur.
