Thanks Kerry Harrison for naming this approach.
- I use Chat GPT to help me write
- It doesn’t write posts for me
- It gets my creativity cooking
I’ve seen AI used in earnest on the Internet.
So much so that it seems that everyone’s trying to outsource their thinking and creativity to the algorithms.
- this is giving AI a bad name
- it’s putting people off who could get value from AI
- it’s promoting the bad use of AI
Whilst I’m not an AI fanboy I do believe in the benefits of technology.
When used well technology does so much good in the world.
When it comes to writing I use Kerry’s sandwich approach.
- I chuck a whole load of thoughts and ideas onto screen
- I ask Chat GPT to make sense of it and turn it into content
- I take what it spits out and use it as a new starting point for my writing
9 times out of 10 I get to a finished product.
Sometimes it’s an edited version of what my AI helper put together.
Sometimes it’s a completely different idea that was sparked just by engaging in this process.
AI won’t replace your creativity.
