You Know Too Much, Unlearn it
Beliefs not business plans.
That’s what will get you through.
When I ask people what they think will get in the way of starting their new venture they’ll say:
- not knowing business planning
- not knowing marketing
- not knowing selling
All known skillsets.
All the things that can be learned.
But they forget to mention the things that need to be unlearned:
- money stories
- imposter syndrome
- fear of failure
These are the hidden hurdles which, unless you address them, will trip you up.
Those hurdles are all to do with mindset.
And unless you’re conscious of them they’re bound to get in the way at some point.
This is why going inwards as an entrepreneur is so important.
And by doing that you discover the unknown unknowns.
The limiting beliefs that block you from becoming better.
- a better business person
- a better boss
- a better human
You may not be able to get rid of these limiting beliefs but being aware of them will at the very least help you cultivate some self-compassion and hopefully prompt you to get support when you need it.
Don’t do it alone.
Find community to carry you through.
Find a close circle of supporters to help you see what you don’t see.
And reinforce your beliefs by diving into your:
- vision
- purpose
- story
It doesn’t matter how much you learn about business if you don’t make steps to unlearn certain things about yourself.
